Germany wins the 1st Italian Open | Posted on: 11/04/2014

For the first time in Italy, in the beautiful surroundings of Rome, 50 players from 6 European countries (Finland, France, Italy, Germany, Greece and Hungary ) competed in the 1st Italian Open of Shuttlecock, during the first weekend in November 2014.

This event has been strongly supported by the Italian Federation of Shuttlecock, the F.I.SHU (http://www.fishu.it ) also candidate for organizing the next World Championship in 2015.

Many institutional and commercial partners helped the Italian Shuttlecock Federation to organize this sporting event: the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Rome City Hall – Municipality 6, Campus X - Rome Tor Vergata, the associations SPORTLAB and US ACLI, the “Fondazione Giorgio Castelli Onlus” organization, the national and international courier “Delta Logistica”, the “Macron Store Roma nord” and the “LightCut Film”.

Two teams from Germany and one from Hungary were the best in the field. They won, respectively, the 1st - 3rd and 2nd place. The final (Zentarra – Walter against the hungarian Toth – Kezer) was really exciting and thrilling, during 3 sets, points after points. The awards ceremony was hosted by “Campus X- Tor Vergata”.

The Open competition traditionally is a great opportunity to meet other people, play fair games and fun sport. A cheerful and positive feel featured this first international and official Shuttlecock event in Italy. As always, thanks to the Shuttlecock, it’s possible to live a great time together.

And now ... we are all ready for new workouts, new races and new competitions!
